Duo Resonanzen as guests at the Chemnitz Music School
"Melismas and Formulas" on 21 October, 7.30 pm in the New Concert Hall
Next Friday, 21 October 2016, 7.30 pm, the renowned duo Resonanzen from Leipzig will be guests at the New Concert Hall of the Chemnitz Municipal Music School with the concert project "Melisms and Formulas".
In the programme with flute and piano, two "classics" of the genre, the Sonatine by Pierre Boulez and Garak by Isang Yun, will be juxtaposed with five newer pieces. Some of the new compositions were composed especially for this concert, three of which will be premiered and correspond to the works by Boulez and Yun in terms of form and content. This creates a stimulating dialogue between "old" and "new" masters around the theme of "melismas and formulas", the search for the essence of melody in and through new sounds.
At the same time, the concert project is an examination of the question: How long is "new music" new? Because this year also marks the 70th anniversary of the composition of Pierre Boulez's Sonatine.
Admission: 6 euros, reduced: 5 euros
