Drought, storms and bark beetles - what is happening to our forests?
Event organised by the adult education centre on 19 January, 7 to 8.30 pm
The adult education centre invites you to an online lecture on Tuesday, 19 January from 7 to 8.30 p.m. on the state of local forests and the threats they currently face. Bernd Ranft, head of the Chemnitz forest district, will explain the developments of recent years and discuss suitable measures to protect the forest ecosystem.

In recent years, storms and drought combined with an unprecedented mass proliferation of bark beetles have led to a catastrophic situation in the forests. The foothills of the Ore Mountains and the lower areas of the Ore Mountains are particularly affected by this development. Observers are worried about the forest population. The lecture will shed light on the current situation and the challenges that arise not only for forestry stakeholders and forest owners. Forestry expert Bernd Ranft will share his comprehensive knowledge and is interested in an exchange on the reorganisation of forests.
