DRK Blood Donation Day at Chemnitz Zoo on 8 July from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
On Sunday, 8 July, the German Red Cross and Chemnitz Zoo are jointly inviting people to donate blood for the 11th time. The event will take place from 10 am to 4 pm in the zoo school. All donors on this day will receive a refund of the entrance fee for themselves and an accompanying child after donating blood at the zoo school, as well as a snack voucher.
This year's supporting programme for children with various stations is themed "Football World Cup", the main attraction being the "animal" hosts of the zoo.
Blood donors must be at least 18 years old and in good health. The age of 65 should not be exceeded for the first donation. It is currently possible to donate blood up to the age of 73, provided you are in good health. Suitability to donate blood is checked on a daily basis during a preliminary medical examination. Healthy men may donate up to six times within a year, women up to four times. There should be at least eight weeks between two donations. Please bring your identity card with you when donating blood.
With this campaign, Chemnitz Zoo is committed to providing patients in the region with vital blood products. Since the first zoo blood donation campaign in 2008, more than 1000 blood donors have taken part.
