Driving licence authority offers additional afternoon appointments on 10 February
On Friday, 10 February 2023, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., the driving licence authority will be offering additional appointments for the exchange of paper driving licences outside of regular opening hours. The offer is aimed at all citizens of the City of Chemnitz who are in possession of a paper driving licence.
Appointments can be booked via the service number 115 or by e-mail to: fuehrerscheinumtausch(at)stadt-chemnitz.de. In addition to the request, the e-mail must also include the surname, maiden name, first name, date of birth and driving licence number. A confirmation with the exact appointment time and the respective appointment number will then be sent back by e-mail.
Due to the transposition of EU law into national law, all driving licences issued before 19 January 2013 must be exchanged for an EU driving licence by 19 January 2033. Due to the large number of driving licences to be exchanged, the exchange of driving licences will be staggered.
By 19 January 2023, all paper driving licences whose holders were born between 1959 and 1964 had to be exchanged.
Those born between 1965 and 1970 already have the opportunity to exchange their paper driving licence. The deadline for these years ends on 19 January 2024.
