Drainage bylaws and wastewater charges adopted in the city of Chemnitz
At its meeting today, the City Council approved the drainage bylaws and the new wastewater charges in the City of Chemnitz from 1 January 2021.
For the discharge of wastewater via public sewers into the public sewage treatment plant, the charges for this customer group total €3.09 per cubic metre for wastewater and €1.14 per square metre for rainwater.
In comparison with other cities and taking into account the investments in the invisible infrastructure of the City of Chemnitz for the environmentally friendly treatment and disposal of wastewater and stormwater included in this calculation period, it has been possible to keep the fee adjustments of the recalculated wastewater fees of the City of Chemnitz moderate and in some cases even constant. From 2021, €6.98 per cubic metre will be charged for the disposal of wastewater from drainless pits and €69.96 per cubic metre for the disposal of faecal and sewage sludge from small sewage treatment plants or faecal pits.
In the calculation period 2020 to 2021, an average annual investment of just under 39 million euros is planned for the city of Chemnitz's wastewater network. The basis for the investments is the business plan of the waste management company of the City of Chemnitz, which was also approved at today's meeting. The investments are urgently needed to ensure reliable, functional, ecological and economical wastewater disposal and treatment in the city of Chemnitz.
