Draft framework plan for Sonnenberg up for discussion
City planning office and planning office will be available to answer questions on 7, 15 and 21 May from 4 to 7 pm
From May, the city of Chemnitz will be putting ideas for the future development of the northern Sonnenberg area to the test. Residents of Sonnenberg are being asked for their opinions on the development, which will be presented in an urban development framework plan for this urban space.
Why a framework plan? To the north of the neighbourhood lies the Zeisigwald forest, the green lung of the city. People live in the centre of Sonnenberg: the main railway station and Sachsen-Allee can be reached in just ten minutes, and the rebuilt CFC stadium is a new centre of attraction. These are important anchors, but they are not enough to attract enough new residents and investors to the neighbourhood. Vacant properties, derelict buildings, derelict sites, built-up courtyards, heavy traffic on Dresdner Strasse and Heinrich-Schütz-Strasse characterise the image of the district and are partly responsible for its negative image. But this diverse Gründerzeit neighbourhood can do more! Together, answers must be found to the important urban planning and functional issues.
From 7 to 30 May, interested parties can get an idea of the draft urban development framework plan in the shop window of the shop at Hainstraße 93a. Representatives from the urban planning office and the urban development office u.m.s. GmbH will also be on hand to answer questions on 7, 15 and 21 May from 4 to 7 pm. Project ideas are part of the planning process: this is why discussions are already being held with the district's movers and shakers and the initial course is being set for project realisation. The maturity of the project proposals can be seen on a project walk through the north of Sonnenberg in mid-June. Through direct contact, the organisers are hoping for interesting and helpful suggestions and numerous supporters. The results of these discussions will be presented at a final public event in the summer.
