Today, Lord Mayor Sven Schulze, Mayoress Dagmar Ruscheinsky and Mayors Ralph Burghart and Miko Runkel returned the donation chests for this year's carol singing campaign to Michael Fox, deacon of the Catholic parish of Holy Mother Teresa Chemnitz.

The motto of this year's carol singing campaign was "Get healthy - be healthy. A global children's right." Over the past few weeks, many employees of the City of Chemnitz have donated to the campaign, which places a special focus on medical care for children in Africa. The money will be used to support aid projects in Ghana and Egypt, for example.

"We are delighted with the positive response once again. Although fewer carol singers were able to be active due to the coronavirus, this was more than compensated for by additional donations, including in the form of bank transfers," summarises Deacon Michael Fox.
