"Doll's houses" wanted: a butterfly meadow to join in and copy
On Sunday, 21 June, from 3 to 5 p.m., interested parties are invited to explore the butterfly meadow of the BUND Chemnitz regional group in Hilbersdorf.
The meeting point is the car park of the allotment garden association Beutenberg e. V., Dresdner Straße, final stop of bus line 32. Participation is free of charge. Due to the limited number of places, please register at www.vhs-chemnitz.de or 0371 488-4343.
During the tour, helpful tips on creating and maintaining a butterfly meadow and all sorts of interesting facts about natural and insect-friendly gardening will be provided.
The threat to biodiversity does not stop at butterflies in the Chemnitz region. Many native butterfly species are suffering from the loss of their habitats, environmental toxins, climate change and anti-natural monocultures. Yet there are great opportunities to preserve, revitalise or create habitats and food supplies for native butterflies, especially in urban areas. Even small meadows are suitable for this.
Using the example of the BUND butterfly meadow in Hilbersdorf, instructions for insect-friendly gardening will be passed on in order to turn meadows back into habitats for many animal and plant species.
The event provides theoretical knowledge about the needs of butterflies as well as practical tips on how to turn your own green space into a paradise for butterflies.
Please wear or bring closed shoes, long trousers and weather-appropriate clothing.
