"Dollhouses" wanted: creating and maintaining butterfly meadows
More and more people are interested in insects, especially native butterflies and bees. This course will show what everyone can do on their own green spaces to make meadows a habitat for many animal and plant species again. Anyone interested is invited to find out more on 5 February from 6.45 to 8.15 pm in course room 4.07 of the TIETZ. Participation is free of charge. Prior registration is not required.
The Chemnitz regional group of the German Federation for the Environment and Nature Conservation (BUND) has been actively protecting the local butterfly population since mid-2018. On a green space in Chemnitz-Hilbersdorf, it is creating a refuge for butterflies, moths and other insects. This example is used to show how butterfly meadows are created.
In addition to theoretical basics, the course will also provide you with knowledge about concrete examples and possible courses of action.
This event is a cooperation between the BUND Regional Group Chemnitz and the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre.
The event will continue on 21 June 2020 with an on-site inspection of the butterfly meadow in Chemnitz-Hilbersdorf and an exchange of experiences on creating insect-friendly green spaces.
