Does the "Green Deal" work?

The Chemnitz Adult Education Centre invites you to an online lecture with economist Hans-Werner Sinn on Friday, 12 March at 7.30 pm. He will address the question of whether the so-called "Green Deal" energy transition strategy being pursued in Germany will work.

The promotion of wind and solar power, e-cars and most other measures in German environmental policy are aimed at reducing the demand for fossil fuels. What if the suppliers don't play ball and sell their fossil fuels elsewhere? Will the policy work at all, or will Germany become a deterrent example for the world by ruining its industry without being able to help the environment?
These are the questions that Hans-Werner Sinn will discuss in his lecture. He will draw heavily on his book "The Green Paradox", which was published in a new edition in autumn 2020.
Prof Hans-Werner Sinn studied economics and is Professor Emeritus at LMU Munich. He was President of the ifo Institute for Economic Research from 1999 to 2016
