"Diversity. The best against simplicity."

Intercultural Weeks 2016 from 17 September to 2 October 2016 - registrations for participation are now being accepted

"Diversity. The best against simplicity." - this will be the motto of Intercultural Week 2016 throughout Germany. In 2016, the IKW will once again use this motto to advocate a society whose diversity is its strength, in which conflicts are resolved constructively and it takes a stand against racism and right-wing extremism. The city of Chemnitz has been taking part in the nationally organised Intercultural Weeks since 1991.

This year, the opening ceremony will take place on 17 September 2016 from 12:00 to 18:00 on Neumarkt square. It is being prepared in cooperation with the Lila Villa Women's Centre of the akCente e. V. association, the AGIUA e. V. association and the City of Chemnitz Migration Advisory Council. In addition to information on the topics of migration, integration, asylum and immigration, visitors will be offered a varied stage programme and culinary delights. The traditional football tournament for children will also take place again.

In the two weeks that follow, clubs, associations, educational institutions, parishes and authorities will have the opportunity to present themselves and their work, provide information on topics such as migration, integration and asylum and offer services for tolerant and peaceful coexistence. Whether it's training courses, meetings, theatre performances, concerts, country evenings, sporting events, readings, cookery courses or exchanges between different religions - the range of offers is broad.

Anyone who would like to take part in the opening and the subsequent two-week series of events with their own programmes can register with the City of Chemnitz Migration Officer. The registration forms are now available for download at www.chemnitz.de.

The organisers are also looking forward to receiving offers of sponsorship and other forms of participation in the Intercultural Weeks. For example, around 90 beer tent sets are needed and artists are being sought for the stage programme.
