Discussion forum on the expert opinion procedure for city centre development

Design ideas for the area around Bahnhofstrasse and Brückenstrasse can be seen until 4 September 2015, Monday to Friday from 12 noon to 6 p.m. on the ground floor of the Park- und Geschäftshaus, Johannisplatz 8.

On Thursday, 27 August at 6 pm, the city is hosting a public panel discussion there.

The following will be taking part: Mayor of Chemnitz Michael Stötzer, architect Axel Lohrer as the winner of the expert opinion process and Ullrich Müller from Aengevelt Immobilien GmbH & Co. KG as the author of a potential study for the affected city centre development sites, as well as Wolfgang Epphardt, Managing Director of the Interessengemeinschaft Chemnitzer Innenstadt e.V. (Chemnitz City Centre Interest Group).

Initially, a presentation on city centre development from a property management perspective will provide impetus. The winning office will then present its proposals for the future design of the city centre.

Afterwards, the audience is invited to a moderated discussion with the experts on the podium until around 8 pm.

So far, up to 100 interested parties have visited the exhibition every day to find out about the results of the city's competition. Planning offices from all over Germany were invited to develop ideas for the future design of Chemnitz city centre. The current exhibition in the commercial building at Johannisplatz 8 not only shows the winning design, but also sets its proposals in relation to the ideas of other participating planning offices.
