Discovery tours to the future profession: Invitations to Girls'Day and Boys'Day for girls and boys in Chemnitz

The venue for the central opening event, which will take place on 27 March 2014 at 8 a.m. in the Bildungswerkstatt (BWC), Annaberger Straße 73, is also a tradition in Chemnitz. Once again this year, a company that is particularly committed to training girls will be honoured here.

Information on Girls'Day and Boy'Day in Chemnitz:

The main aim of Girls'Day in Chemnitz is to get girls in grades 7 to 11 from Chemnitz and the surrounding area interested in industrial, technical and skilled trades careers as well as study opportunities in technology and science and to try out these professions. From the point of view of personal life planning and the economic characteristics of their home town or home region of Chemnitz, schoolgirls should experience complex, gender-specific career guidance on their way into the training market. For year 7, a discovery tour is offered at the Bildungswerkstatt Chemnitz, the Chamber of Crafts and at Solaris FZU. In addition to gaining an insight into various professional fields, there is a workshop for girls at all three locations entitled "Why boys are like this and girls are completely different".

Girls in year 8 can get to know and try out careers in the IT sector at "Technik für Girls" at the Profil-Bildungsgesellschaft and the SAEK. A workshop is also organised at all locations, which deals with the training market in the Chemnitz region and career opportunities in the region in the context of their own life planning.

For schoolgirls in grades 9 to 11, the Technology Centre offers a workshop entitled "Always under pressure and yet never finished" on time and self-management and self-motivation and a visit to the Saxon Textile Research Institute and scia Systems GmbH .

The Verein zur beruflichen Förderung und Ausbildung, Waldenburger Straße 63, is taking part in Girls' Day with special offers for secondary school and special needs pupils. Information will be provided on manual and technical professions in the fields of construction, wood, metal, electrical engineering, colour and interior design.

As far as the offers on Boys'Day in Chemnitz are concerned, the organisers would like to draw attention to the fact that there are of course many more career opportunities for boys than, for example, the traditional "front runners" in terms of career aspirations - automotive mechatronics technician and industrial mechanic. This is why there will also be offers for boys on 27 March: information will be provided on the everyday life of a nursery school teacher and a medical assistant, on the careers of a nurse, a primary school teacher and a care manager. Especially in the social sector, there are an extremely large number of professions with a promising future for boys. Boys' Day aims to offer boys the opportunity to try out these professions, which may be new to some. In municipal daycare centres, 40 places are offered to get to know the profession of nursery teacher. The Chemnitz Clinical Centre provides insights into the everyday life of nursing staff. Special needs students can try out office, housekeeping and service professions at the VBFA.

Under the umbrella of the Kraftwerk socio-cultural centre, boys can also take part in a workshop to discuss their own career and future plans.
