A 250-kilogram aerial bomb has been found during construction work in Altchemnitz and must be defused on Wednesday morning.
The administrative staff of the city of Chemnitz is therefore calling on all residents of parts of Altchemnitz, Erfenschlag, Reichenhain and Harthau as well as other people to leave the exclusion zone by 9 a.m. at the latest. Around 3,300 residents are affected.
The explosive ordnance clearance service has ordered an exclusion zone of 1,000 metres.

All affected residents are requested to organise their own alternative accommodation. People who cannot find alternative accommodation should report to the athletics hall in the Sportforum, entrance Werner-Seelenbinder-Straße, from 8.00 am.
Care services or people in need of care from the affected area can call the City of Chemnitz Social Welfare Office from 8.30 a.m. on 0371 488-5564 if seated or lying patients need to be transported out of the area.
