Discovery day at the adult education centre in Chemnitz
The Chemnitz Adult Education Centre invites you to a discovery day next Wednesday, 31 January, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to mark the publication of the new programme booklet. Participation is free of charge.
"Discover Chemnitz" - that is the motto of the VHS in the coming summer semester and of the discovery day. There will be tailoring, felting and woodworking workshops where you can try your hand at arts and crafts. A professional henna artist will design hands with the artistic body painting from the Indian region. There will also be taster courses for Spanish, English and Russian as well as various offers for using digital media such as smart phones and tablets. Culinary delights will be provided. The courses will be led by VHS instructors, can be experienced free of charge on the discovery day and can be booked for the coming semester.
Small musical performances by course participants, magic shows and hands-on activities about Europe and Chemnitz transform the VHS into a place of encounters and diverse experiences for young and old. The new programme for the 2018 summer semester can already be tasted. During the course of the day, there will be the opportunity to obtain information and advice on individual educational programmes and to register for courses.
The day before, on Tuesday, 30 January, the adult education centre will have a stand at Neumarkt parallel to the weekly market - the freshly printed programme for the 2018 summer semester will be available here from 9 am to 3 pm.
With the motto "Discover Chemnitz" as part of the "875 years of Chemnitz" celebrations, the adult education centre's course programme combines the historical Chemnitz with the city of modernity in 2018. Painting and drawing courses on Chemnitz landmarks and events on the city's changing names are on offer. City walks through Chemnitz and its history will take you to the architectural changes in the cityscape and into Chemnitz's "underground", the so-called "Kaßberg catacombs".
