Discover culture with URBAN C
600,000 euros for a varied second half of 2022 in Chemnitz
URBAN C invites culture enthusiasts to various locations and places throughout Chemnitz.
The city of Chemnitz has received 100% funding of 600,000 euros from the "Kulturland 2022. Saxony as a stage" programme of the Cultural Foundation of the Free State of Saxony.
"With our funding application, we pursued the goal of involving numerous artists, cultural workers from the independent scene and from municipal institutions in the URBAN C programme. With the promised funds, we can now support specific projects until December 2022 and strengthen cultural life in Chemnitz," says Dagmar Ruscheinsky, Mayor for Culture.
The city of Chemnitz had already announced an open application process for URBAN C in June. Independent and municipal cultural players submitted a total of 101 projects. A programme council consisting of representatives from the cultural committee, cultural advisory board, art collections, municipal theatres, C³ Veranstaltungszentren GmbH, the administration as well as the network for cultural and youth work, the cultural alliance Hand in Hand e. V. and Kreativer Sachsen Chemnitz e. V. selected 69 projects to receive funding.
Ralf Schulze, Managing Director of C³ Veranstaltungszentren GmbH, adds: "We are delighted that so many cultural players are participating with a wide range of projects and that we can play our part by providing organisational support for the projects."
The project highlights include
- Slack for Peace by Walden e. V. on Brückenstraße
- "Verstickungen" series of events organised by Taupunkt e. V.
- Boat concert on the castle pond
- Dance camp #ChemnitzMovesOn! organised by Tanz/Moderne/Tanz e. V.
C³ Veranstaltungszentren GmbH is responsible for the coordination and implementation of the event programme. The extensive programme will soon be available at www.urban-c.de.
