Discover Chemnitz forests: the Rabenstein Forest
Adult education centre: Guided walk on 7 October, 4 to 6.15 pm
On Thursday, 7 October, from 4 to 6.15 pm, the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre invites all interested parties to a walk through the Rabenstein Forest. Forester Ullrich Göthel from Sachsenforst will explain the development of the forest in recent years and the threat posed by the consequences of climate change.
Participation is free. The meeting point is the car park at "Forsthaus Grüna".
Due to the limited number of participants, registration is recommended at www.vhs-chemnitz.de or 0371 488-4343.
During the forest walk, the special features of the Rabenstein Forest, its history and significance will be explained. The forestry expert will be on hand to answer questions.
What damage has the bark beetle caused in recent years? How do the consequences of drought and storms become visible?
The guided walk also looks at the reorganisation of the forests: How can we continue to use the forests? What protection do they and their inhabitants need?
And last but not least: What is sustainable for the region?
The event is a co-operation between the State Enterprise Sachsenforst and the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre.
