Diphtheria and tuberculosis occurred
There are currently cases of diphtheria and tuberculosis in Chemnitz. The people affected are currently receiving treatment.
In order to prevent the further spread of the two diseases, the public health department is inviting potential contacts in the two affected daycare centres and one school to undergo tests in the coming days.
Three siblings have contracted diphtheria, one of whom attends a school (Friedrich-Fröbel-Schule, Reichsstraße 45) and one a daycare centre ("Erstes Chemnitzer Kindergartenmodell", Straße Usti nad Labem 49). The affected contact persons have been contacted by the public health department and will be examined and treated from tomorrow.
The tuberculosis cases involve four children and their parents, who are currently undergoing clinical treatment. The infected children attend the Michaelstraße II daycare centre (currently relocated to Alfred-Neubert-Straße 22). The affected contact persons will be contacted by the public health department today. On Wednesday, 28 September, the parents will be informed by the public health department at an information event at the daycare centre.
