Digital information pillar on the market square

Photo opportunity: Commissioning on 22 March 2018, 3 pm

On Thursday 22 March at 3 pm, the first digital information pillar with display and touchscreen will be put into operation by Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig on the market square (next to the Judith Lucretia portal). Media representatives are cordially invited.

In the anniversary year "875 years of Chemnitz", the City of Chemnitz is inaugurating several information steles that provide information about the history of important locations, primarily in Chemnitz city centre.

Background

On 7 December 2017, Chemnitz City Council approved a concept for the installation of modern information steles in Chemnitz city centre. This was followed by a nationwide tender. An advertising agency from Chemnitz was awarded the contract. During development, it was particularly important that the design was modern, had artistic elements and blended discreetly into the cityscape. Particular emphasis was also placed on accessibility and protection against vandalism.

This measure is co-financed by tax funds on the basis of the budget approved by the members of the Saxon state parliament via the participation funding programme of the state of Saxony.
