Digital children's conference on 9 November

Chemnitz schoolchildren talk about peace

On Monday, 9 November, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., the City of Chemnitz's Children and Youth Officer, Ute Spindler, will lead the 14th Children's Conference, which will take place online this time.

On this special day, children from Chemnitz schools will be exchanging ideas and talking about peace under the motto "We write history too".

In a digital peace game on Monday, they will democratically decide what peace looks like at school, in the classroom, at home or in friendships. The children use the game-based learning platform "Kahoot!" to vote. A new feature is that the student councils are also involved in the discussions. There are individual digital meetings in small groups of three to four schools. The children will see each other in the virtual meeting room and present their results. The conference will end with a joint final round in which all schools will be connected together and can say goodbye.

The girls and boys can experience democracy at the conference. The aim is to encourage the children to participate, to strengthen their self-confidence and self-assurance when voting and to awaken joy in democratic processes.

It is possible to include a limited number of media representatives in a digital meeting of the conference. Please register for this by Friday, 6 November, 2 pm at pressestelle(at)stadt-chemnitz.de.
