Demolition of the dilapidated building at Zschopauer Straße 174 begins
From tomorrow, 25 January, the preparatory measures for the demolition of the dilapidated building at Zschopauer Straße 174 will begin, as the client informed the building permit office of the City of Chemnitz today.
The old building was a former residential and commercial property built in the 1950s. As it is not a listed building, only a demolition notice is required for the demolition of the structure. This has been submitted to the planning permission office.
Parts of the building collapsed onto the property back in 2018 after a long period of vacancy. Since then, the planning permission office has carried out regular site inspections in order to identify any risks to public safety and then request the owner to remove the danger.
In 2019, the former owner arranged for the partial demolition of the building on the street side.
The new owner only recently acquired the property and, according to initial information, intends to build a residential development on the site. A building application for a new development has not yet been submitted to the planning permission office.
