Democratic initiatives in Chemnitz supported with a record sum of almost 500,000 euros
Together with the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth (BMFSFJ) and the Free State of Saxony, Saxon State Ministry of the Interior/Saxon State Prevention Council, the City of Chemnitz is investing almost 500,000 euros in promoting democracy in Chemnitz.
Chemnitz has a strong civil society that is committed to a city of democracy and cosmopolitanism. This commitment is now being supported to an unprecedented extent.
Of a total of 54 applications submitted for the promotion of democracy, 48 projects will be subsidised, including:
- The Youth Forum, the public relations and networking work of the Network for Cultural and Youth Work will receive the highest grant of 95,000 euros.
- The ASA FF e.V. received 87,000 euros for the exhibition on the activities of the NSU in Chemnitz.
- The early childhood prevention project of the "Huckepack e.V." association will be supported with a grant of 39,600 euros.
- Solidarisches Chemnitz e.V. receives 17,700 euros for a meeting centre.
- The Chemnitzer Bürgerfest e.V. association with the Chemnitz citizens' festival "Ein Herz für Alle" (A Heart for All) will receive 10,000 euros.
- The TÜDELÜ of the different people e.V. association receives 10,000 euros.
Funding from the municipal micro-project fund of the Local Action Plan for Democracy, Tolerance and a Cosmopolitan Chemnitz (LAP) will be awarded to organisations including
- BuntmacherInnen e.V. for mobile democracy work,
- the Circle of Friends of the Jewish Community of Chemnitz,
- initiatives of the Protestant church and
- the Christopher Street Day organisation team.
The colourful variety of memorial site trips, festivals, performances, various educational offers, workshops and sporting activities should be emphasised.
