Democracy projects will also be funded in 2026

Applications for project funding can be submitted until 23 February

Once again this year, initiatives, associations, groups and individuals who are committed to a diverse, peaceful and democratic coexistence will be supported. The City of Chemnitz, the Free State of Saxony and the federal government are once again making funds available to support projects. Applications for funding for corresponding measures can be submitted until 23 February.

A new funding period for the federal "Demokratie Leben!" programme began last year and the funding guidelines for the local action plan for democracy, tolerance and a cosmopolitan Chemnitz remain in place.
In 2026, €80,000 from municipal budget funds, €140,000 in federal funds from the "Demokratie leben!" funding programme and €50,000 from the Free State of Saxony (subject to confirmation of the budget in each case) will therefore once again be available.

Projects submitted as part of the funding guidelines of the local action plan for democracy, tolerance and an open-minded Chemnitz can be funded with up to 5,000 euros. In the federal "Demokratie Leben!" programme, up to 20,000 euros can be applied for per individual measure.

Further information, the official call for proposals and the project application can be found at www.chemnitz.de/demokratiefoerderung or can be obtained from the Crime Prevention Unit.
Applications for funding for project ideas that correspond to the LAP or the federal programme must be submitted to the specialist unit in written and digital form by the deadline. Individual consultation appointments can be arranged directly with the specialist centre at
