Democracy projects are supported

Applications are possible until 7 March - Information event on 25 January, 4 p.m.

In 2022, the programme will once again support initiatives, associations, groups and individuals who are committed to a democratic, tolerant and cosmopolitan Chemnitz. The City of Chemnitz, the Free State of Saxony and the federal government are once again providing funding for this through the federal "Live Democracy!" programme.

An online information event will take place on Tuesday, 25 January at 4 pm. Registrations can be sent by email to koordinierungsstelleLAP(at)stadt-chemnitz.de until the day of the event. Applications for funding for measures that are committed to a democratic, cosmopolitan Chemnitz can be submitted until 7 March 2022.

In 2022, 80,000 euros will be available from municipal budget funds for this purpose. In addition - subject to confirmation of the budget - 125,000 euros in federal funding from the "Live Democracy!" funding programme and 50,000 euros from the Free State of Saxony.

Support is available for initiatives, associations, groups and individuals who wish to participate in the implementation of the local strategy. Grants of up to 20,000 euros can be applied for to implement the projects. Project proposals should serve to implement measures that are aligned with the content of the valid target pyramid (see appendix).

A particular focus of the federal programme "Demokratie Leben" is the prevention of radicalisation. Applications can therefore also be submitted in this area.

Last year, committed Chemnitz residents were supported in more than 40 measures. One example is the realisation of the exhibition on the NSU complex by ASA-FF e. V. in November 2021 and the great interest shown by civil society.
