"Dementia - the world upside down" campaign day
On the occasion of World Alzheimer's Day 2023, the DementiaNet_C invites you: on 16 September, from 8.30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Metropol cinema
On Saturday, 16 September, from 8.30 am to 3 pm, people affected by dementia, their relatives, carers and interested parties are invited to an information day to mark World Alzheimer's Day 2023 at the Metropol cinema, Zwickauer Straße 11. The diagnosis of dementia does not only affect those with the disease. Their families and friends are also involved in coping with this illness. They accompany, care for, look after, listen, comfort and give strength. It is important for people with dementia and their relatives to stay connected so that they can participate in life.
With this day of action under the motto "Dementia - staying connected", the DementiaNet_C aims to raise awareness and provide information about the disease.
Dementia expert Sophie Rosentreter will explain how this can be achieved in a specialist lecture with insights into the world of dementia sufferers and has brought along a "suitcase full of possibilities". In the subsequent panel discussion with expert representatives and Sophie Rosentreter, the panellists provide helpful tips on how to deal with the disease in everyday life and answer questions.
As a cultural contribution, the documentary film by David Sieveking shows how he takes over the care of his mother, who suffers from dementia, after his father has reached the limits of his endurance. He himself said about this time: "My mother's tragedy did not become a film about illness, but a love film filled with melancholy cheerfulness."
The event is supported and funded by the self-help programme in accordance with Section 20h SGB V and co-financed with taxpayers' money on the basis of the budget approved by the members of the Saxon state parliament.
DemenzNetz_C(hemnitz) brings together stakeholders from public, independent and private organisations and services to represent the interests of dementia sufferers and their relatives in Chemnitz.
