"Dementia - stay connected" campaign day
The DementiaNet_C invites you on the occasion of World Alzheimer's Day 2022: on 17 September, from 8.30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Metropol cinema
On Saturday, 17 September, from 8.30 am to around 3 pm, people affected by dementia, their relatives, carers and interested parties are invited to an information day to mark World Alzheimer's Day 2022 at the Metropol cinema, Zwickauer Straße 11, 09112 Chemnitz. Admission is free.
The diagnosis of dementia does not only affect those with the disease. Their families and friends are also involved in coping with this illness. They accompany, care, look after, listen, comfort and give strength. It is important for people with dementia and their relatives to stay connected so that they can participate in life.
With this day of action under the motto "Dementia - staying connected", the DementiaNet_C aims to raise awareness and provide information about the disease.
After a specialist lecture on the topic "Your dementia - my life, caring relatives between care and self-care", participants can look forward to a panel discussion with expert representatives from the field. They will provide basic knowledge about dementia, give helpful tips on how to deal with the disease in everyday life and answer questions.
As a special cultural contribution, Thomas Borggrefe will present the life of a musician with dementia in his theatre play "HellerMann" (directed by Titus Tiel Groenestege). The theatre performance will provide a deep insight into the emotional world of a person with dementia: How does a person cope? How can life with dementia be made worth living? The theatre play shows the process sensitively and clearly. The world of dementia is a sometimes incomprehensible, whimsical landscape full of colour, poetry, creativity and grizzly shapes. The production is a mirror of this world, a composition of texts, music, sounds, heaviness and lightness, humour and sadness. That's life, even with dementia. At the end of the information day, there will be an opportunity to talk to Thomas Borggrefe.
