On Saturday, 20 September, from 8.30 am to 3 pm, the DementiaNet_C invites you to an information day under the motto "Dementia - being and staying human" at the Metropol cinema, Zwickauer Straße 11. The occasion is World Alzheimer's Day. Participants will learn more about the disease and can find out about support options.
Entry is free of charge and admission starts at 8 am. Registration is possible until 12 September at https://mitdenken.sachsen.de/1052301. The Metropol cinema is barrier-free and parking is available.
This 12th Information Day begins at 8.45 am with the documentary film "Diagnosis of dementia - a horror without a ghost". The main actor and producer Günter Roggenhofer will be on site and will talk to the audience in the subsequent panel discussion with experts on dealing with dementia in everyday life. Lunch will be followed by a talk with a question and answer session on the topic of "Dementia - a question of age?".
The aim of the day is to provide understandable information about dementia-related changes and to raise awareness, in particular how relatives and loved ones can master the everyday challenges of being and remaining human together with their loved ones. After all, a diagnosis of dementia can throw one's life completely off course. For the person with dementia and their family, the time afterwards is associated with many questions, uncertainties and fears.
The motto for World Alzheimer's Day 2025 is "Dementia - be and stay human". This message is intended to draw attention to the fact that people affected by dementia are and will remain the same people. Despite the disease, their experiences, memories, experiences and emotions continue to characterise them, even if these are sometimes hidden deep within them.
Coping with Alzheimer's and senile dementia in everyday life presents challenges and changes for sufferers, relatives and carers every day. Social acceptance and inclusion of people with dementia therefore increases the appreciation of those affected, relatives, carers and all people who have to deal with the issue on a regular basis.
DemenzNetz_C(hemnitz) brings together stakeholders from public, independent and private organisations and services to represent the interests of dementia sufferers and their relatives in Chemnitz.
