Demand plan for daycare places updated
At its meeting yesterday, the City Council decided to update the City of Chemnitz's requirements plan for child daycare centres, after-school care facilities and child daycare.
Measures are to be taken with the requirements plan in order to implement the legal entitlement and provide a needs-based supply. The planning applies to children who are habitually resident in the city of Chemnitz.
The last needs plan for the city of Chemnitz with the forecast up to 2017 was adopted by the city council in May 2015. The planning was based on the number of resident children as of 31 January 2014, including an update of the number of births based on the previous year. New capacities were planned through the expansion of child daycare, the reactivation of two facilities and the construction of three new daycare centres. However, the forecast development for the following years changed significantly due to the current figures for births, resident children and the allocation of refugee families with children.
The development of demand from 2014 to 2015 is as follows Number of births +250 (2346 in total), number of resident children: crèche children +425 (6342 in total) and kindergarten children +647 (8357 in total). A further 218 children (as at 1 March 2016) have been admitted from refugee families in the crèche, nursery and after-school care sectors.
In order to meet the legal requirements, it is necessary to provide up to 75% of nursery children, up to 97% of kindergarten children and up to 94% of after-school children.
Based on the newly forecast development, additional capacities for crèche and kindergarten children and space capacities for after-school children must be expanded.
In addition to the additional space capacities already created, the following measures are to be implemented for the 2017 to 2018 needs planning: expansion of space capacities in existing facilities, expansion of after-school care centre capacities at primary schools through the dual use of premises, expansion of day care and the construction and expansion of day care centres in the districts. expansion of daycare centres in the districts of Zentrum, Kaßberg, Glösa-Draisdorf and Rabenstein.
