"Daycare centres & artists" - start of applications for funding

A pilot project of the city of Chemnitz to promote creative education programmes in daycare centres

The City of Chemnitz is calling on daycare centres and artists to collaborate in the field of visual arts and is funding up to five daycare centre artist projects with a grant of 900 euros for fees and material costs. Daycare centre artist teams can apply with a creative educational project until 29 April 2016. The aim of the competition is to give children aged three to six years access to artistic education.

Applications ("Application" form and "Project Idea" form) are accepted by the City of Chemnitz's cultural department, Cultural Education Contact Centre, Moritzstraße 20, 09111 Chemnitz in writing or by email to Kulturelle.Bildung@stadt-chemnitz.de. Applications can also be submitted in person at the KulturRAUM on the ground floor of the TIETZ, Moritzstraße 20, 09111 Chemnitz.

The cooperation between daycare centres and artists is intended to create projects that complement the daycare centre's offerings. The focus is not on imparting knowledge, but on giving children the opportunity to become creative themselves and gain aesthetic experience. This promotes children's learning processes.

We are looking for sustainable, creative projects with a connection to the cultural area of the city of Chemnitz, which will be carried out in the period from 9 May to 31 December 2016.

The pilot project was developed by the Cultural Education Network Centre in the Vogtland-Zwickau cultural region and has been successfully implemented there since 2013. The Chemnitz pilot project is funded by the Saxon Ministry of Science and the Arts.
