Daycare centre strike on Wednesday: emergency care secured - parents fully informed
The service trade union Verdi has called for further strikes by nursery school teachers this week. The strike day in Chemnitz will be tomorrow, Wednesday. Parents were already comprehensively informed last week about possible emergency childcare arrangements.
There will be emergency on-site childcare tomorrow in 67 of the 69 municipal childcare centres. Currently, 3,779 children are being looked after there, including 1,752 crèche and kindergarten children and 2,027 after-school children. 366 employees of the day care centres are taking part in the strike action.
The two closed facilities were closed by the city, as the children being cared for are being taken over by other facilities.
Parents were comprehensively informed about the strike last week and asked about any possible need for emergency childcare. Additional talks were held with these parents.
In the so-called emergency groups, the children of parents who are both in employment or working single parents are looked after. Children of parents with one parent at home are generally not looked after during the strike.
The specialist department will be staffed from 6.00 a.m. on the day of the strike to answer telephone enquiries from parents on 0371/488 5121.
