Daycare centre strike: 31 facilities closed from tomorrow
Emergency care secured for some of the children - parents comprehensively informed
The service union Verdi has called for further strikes by childcare workers. Of the 69 day-care centres, 31 will be closed from tomorrow, Tuesday. 38 centres are open and are providing emergency care - although not always with "in-house staff" - for all children with both parents in employment or for single parents in employment.
Parents were again informed in detail about the strike and asked about their possible need for emergency childcare. Additional discussions were held with these parents.
This is currently an indefinite strike. Depending on the outcome of the union's negotiations with the municipal employers' association, the strike action will be continued or ended.

374 employees of the day-care centres are taking part in the strike action.
From today's perspective, a total of 3,851 children are being cared for, of which 2,000 are crèche and kindergarten children (44.6%) and 1,851 are after-school children (44.6%).
