Day of urban development at Brühl
Rediscover the Brühl on 13 May from 1 to 6 pm
On 13 May 2017, the nationwide Urban Development Day will once again take place in Chemnitz. Citizens will have the opportunity to find out about urban development funding.
Whether city tours, visits, building openings, planning workshops or future conferences - interested parties can find out how they can play an active role in shaping their local community.
Over the past 25 years, Chemnitz has had a positive record of urban development. Opportunities for regeneration after reunification were utilised: The city council decided on urban redevelopment measures in the Gründerzeit neighbourhoods and an office for urban renewal was established. Urban renewal support areas were defined, which participated in support programmes.
Once again, the Day of Urban Regeneration offers Chemnitz residents the opportunity to discover their city from this perspective. This time, the focus is on Brühl. A funding framework of 8.6 million euros has been approved for it since 2012. 5.3 million euros have already been used there for urban regeneration. Funding from the federal-state programme for urban renewal, part of the Active Town and District Centres programme, will continue until 2021.
"Discover Brühl - in all its facets!", the organisers encourage visitors to the district on the day. Some houses have not yet been completely renovated, but are already of interest to those looking for living space. Landlords will therefore be opening renovated flats and commercial premises and will be available all day to answer questions about the properties. The range of creative shops and craftsmen is growing and promises to be even more colourful.
For example, the "Kleine Könige" manufactory for individualised children's fashion is opening and the Holzkombinat invites you to build and take a look.
Business start-ups and those who would like to become one can find out about funding opportunities from the city and the EU at the Brühl office. Property owners can obtain expert advice from energy consultants on energy-efficient refurbishment options. Culinary and cultural delights will also be provided. And on a 1.5-hour tour of Brühl, a tour guide will provide detailed information about Brühl through the ages.
