Data collection for the new 2018 rent index
Rent index survey runs until 18 December 2017
The city of Chemnitz has commissioned Rödl & Partner to prepare the new qualified rent index 2018 for the city of Chemnitz. The rent index has proven to be a reliable means of making the rent structure in the city transparent, protecting tenants from excessive demands and also providing landlords with a solid basis for increases. The survey will run until Monday, 18 December 2017, and residents who have received a questionnaire but have not yet completed and returned it are asked to do so.
The selection of households is based on a random sample drawn from the residents' register. The rent index can only be compiled if as many people as possible who have been contacted are willing to provide information about their tenancy. In order to collect the necessary data properly, the selected rental households are visited by interviewers or questioned in writing; the survey form can also be completed online. Authorised survey officers from Rödl & Partner, who identify themselves with a letter of legitimation from the City of Chemnitz, are on the road for the survey.
The provision of information is voluntary. However, every piece of information helps to obtain a comprehensive and reliable picture of the rental price structure. The data collected is also required for updating the City of Chemnitz's Accommodation and Heating Costs Directive (KdU-Richtlinie). The rent index survey is subject to the strict data protection regulations of the Federal Republic of Germany. The protection of personal data is therefore guaranteed. It is not possible to draw conclusions about the persons surveyed on the basis of the completed questionnaire or during the analysis.
