The citizens' office of Chemnitz City Council has had a new head since the beginning of the year. The 40-year-old Daniela Gehlhaar has headed the office since 1 January 2021. The city council had already confirmed her appointment last summer. Daniela Gehlhaar most recently headed the road traffic office in the district of Zwickau.

She succeeds Anna Lonsdorfer, who has retired after more than five years as head of the office.

The Citizens' Office brings together many important areas for citizens. This includes the lost property office, registry office, registration office, vehicle registration office, driving licence office and immigration office, as well as the citizen service and the 115 service centre.
