Dancing on the volcano - searching for traces of Chemnitz's fiery past
Public Tuesday tour at the Museum of Natural History Chemnitz on 2 May
On Tuesday, 2 May, the Museum of Natural History at the TIETZ will be holding a public guided tour on the subject of "Dancing on the volcano - searching for clues in Chemnitz's fiery past" from 3 to 4.30 pm.
Chemnitz 291 million years ago: Light falls through the dense canopy of a subtropical jungle. Insects buzz through the air and it smells of freshly decaying leaves. But a rumble pierces the forest, the earth shakes and suddenly - it is dark.
Even today, huge fossilised tree trunks underground in Chemnitz bear witness to the former primeval forest. But what happened to it? On this guided tour, it's up to the visitor: clues are collected in a criminalistic manner and pieced together to form a prehistoric catastrophe. And where better to do this than at the scene of the crime?
Admission costs 5 euros, concessions 2.50 euros. Admission is free for young people up to the age of 18.
The tour is suitable for adults and young people aged 16 and over. Registration is not required.
