Damage to property in public playgrounds

Parks department files a complaint

There was serious damage to property at municipal public playgrounds over the turn of the year.

For example, a concrete table tennis table was destroyed on the playground in Bürgerpark Gablenz (see photo). The replacement value amounts to approx. 4,500 euros. At the playground on the Schloßteichinsel, the swing basket of the bird's nest swing was destroyed (see photo). The replacement value there is approx. 2,500 euros. Paper bins were also blown up or destroyed at the Talangerpark and Hainstraße playgrounds. In these cases, the replacement value totals approx. 2,500 euros. In order to repair this damage, around 9,500 euros must be raised in the municipal budget as additional unplanned expenditure.

As a result, any necessary repairs or regular maintenance work on other public playgrounds cannot be carried out or can only be carried out in part. Littering and broken glass on playgrounds and in parks also cause costs that are then not available for the regular maintenance and design of public playgrounds and public green spaces and parks for the benefit of all playground users.

Charges have been filed for the damage to property listed.
