"DA CAPO - Music for seniors"
Music café at Kraftwerk e. V. with Felix Bender
On 7 April 2016 at 3 pm, the Chemnitz Municipal Music School invites you to the next edition of the music café entitled "DA CAPO - Music for Seniors" in the large hall of the Kraftwerk e. V. at Kaßbergstraße 36. This time, bandleader and keyboard lion Felix Bender will be our guest. Admission is 5.00 euros including coffee and cake.
Since the 2013/2014 season, Felix Bender has been employed by Städtisches Theater Chemnitz gGmbH as 1st Kapellmeister and has taken over the musical direction for various opera productions, e.g. "The Barber of Seville", "Don Giovanni" and "Norma", as well as conducting various concerts.
In an exciting and informative chat with Nancy Gibson, Felix Bender tells anecdotes about his duties as a conductor. The conversation is framed by well-known melodies.
Felix Bender received his first musical training in singing and instrumental lessons (violin and piano). In 2000, he was accepted into the Thomanerchor Leipzig, where he also received conducting lessons from Thomaskantor G.Ch. Biller. He then continued his training at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Weimar and with various musical personalities such as Gunther Kahlert and GMD Anthony Bramall. He was a Bayreuth scholarship holder of the Richard Wagner Society in Weimar and was awarded first prize in an international opera competition for stage direction and design in Graz.
He gained his first artistic experience as a guest conductor with the Academic Orchestra of the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg and as conductor of the Wendland Symphony Orchestra and the Jena Philharmonic Orchestra. He was also musical assistant to GMD Prof. Herbert Blomstedt and GMD Prof. Heribert Beissel. Felix Bender was musical director and conductor at the Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar.
