DA CAPO - Music for seniors

Music café at Kraftwerk e.V. on 2 February 2017, 3 p.m.

On Thursday, 2 February 2017, at 3 pm, the well-known opera and concert singer Tiina Penttinen and the pianist Gabriele Ratzmann will be welcomed as guests in the large hall of the
Kraftwerk e.V. at Kaßbergstraße 36.

Admission is 6 euros, including coffee and cake.

Tiina Penttinen, Finnish mezzo-soprano, studied at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. During her studies, she already focussed extensively on lieder singing and took special courses with well-known teachers (Udo Reineman, Roger Vignoles, Gustav Djupsjöbacka, Ilmo Ranta and Ellen Nyberg). Her song repertoire includes works by Schumann, Schubert, Brahms, Sibelius, Kuula, Strauss, Mahler, Wolf, Debussy and other composers. Tiina Penttinen has performed as a concert soloist with several major Finnish orchestras and has also sung many sacred works. Tiina Penttinen made her debut at the Finnish National Opera in Helsinki in autumn 2004. In 2005 she performed at the Sibelius Academy. She has also sung at the Tampere Opera House and in Turku. She has been a permanent member of the Chemnitz Opera ensemble since the beginning of the 2006/2007 season and has already appeared here as Ruggiero, Cherubino, Donna Elvira, Dorabella, Second Lady, Rebecca
("Il Templario"), Countess ("Wildschütz"), Carmen, Mary, Rotelse ("Rose vom Liebesgarten"), Hansel, Suzuki ("Madama Butterfly"), Dominga ("Love and Other Demons"), Mother ("Swanhunter" / Jonathan Dove), Duchess ("The Duchess of Malfi" / Torsten Rasch), Orlofsky, as Amando ("Le Grand Macabre"/György Ligeti) and Adalgisa ("Norma") Elvira. From the 2016/2017 season, she will sing the Countess in "Pique Dame". She is characterised by her extraordinary versatility and variability.

Gabriele Ratzmann teaches piano at the Chemnitz Municipal Music School. She has already accompanied several well-known soloists (including Nancy Gibson) on the piano.

Nancy Gibson will once again have an entertaining conversation with Tiina Penttinen at this music café, so that music lovers will learn interesting facts about her future opera and concert appearances. In between, she will perform well-known melodies.
