DA CAPO - Music for seniors
Music café at Kraftwerk e.V. on 2 November, 3 p.m.
"DA CAPO - Music for Seniors" invites you to another edition of the music café on Thursday, 2 November at 3 pm in the large hall of Kraftwerk e.V. at Kaßbergstraße 36. Sabine Sterken, a director between the big stage and the parlour, will be the guest. Admission is six euros including coffee and cake. Barrier-free access for wheelchair users is available at the signposted side entrance.
Sabine Sterken was born in Leipzig and worked for a year at the radio station in Leipzig after leaving school. In 1983, she became an assistant director in Chemnitz. At the same time, she completed a correspondence course in theatre studies at the Leipzig Theatre Academy. In 1993, she directed her first work, Schönberg's "Pierrot Lunaire". Since then, she has staged productions in Chemnitz including "Der kleine Schornsteinfeger" (1995), "Gräfin Mariza" (1997), "Der Vogelhändler" (1998), "Der Barbier von Sevilla" (1999) or "Hexe Hillary geht in die Oper" (2007) and "Die Zauberflöte - für Kinder" (2008). This was followed in the 2009/2010 season by the family opera "Erwin, das Naturtalent". She has worked as a guest director at the Görlitz Theatre ("Am Samstag kam das Sams zurück"), the Cottbus State Theatre ("Mein Freund Bunbury"), the Volkstheater Rostock ("Die Comedian Harmonists") and in 2007 in Salvador de Bahia, Brazil ("Tosca"). In 2008, she initiated and founded the "salonoper chemnitz", which has already performed several productions of expressionist works at the Gunzenhauser Museum in Chemnitz.
In an exciting and informative chat between Sabine Sterken and Nancy Gibson, visitors will learn a lot of interesting facts about the remit and work of a director. In between, well-known opera melodies will be played.
