DA CAPO music café in May with DJ Dirk Duske

Chemnitz DJ Dirk Duske, one of the prominent faces of "The city is me!" at the launch of the city of Chemnitz's new city marketing campaign, will be a guest at the monthly music café "DA CAPO - Music for Seniors" in May. Musikcafé host Nancy Gibson, who as head of the Chemnitz Municipal Music School is also a committed supporter of the campaign with a commitment to Chemnitz, will welcome Dirk Duske on Thursday, 8 May at 3 pm in the large hall of the Kraftwerk socio-cultural centre (Kaßbergstraße 36).

Dirk Duske is deeply rooted in the city of his birth, Karl-Marx-Stadt/Chemnitz, and his affectionate relationship with his city has attracted particular attention in recent weeks with his public commitment - presented via a banner on the façade of the opera house and online at www.die-stadt-bin-ich.de. Duske's love of music, influenced by his musical parents, was already evident at the beginning of his school years. He completed a course for school DJs, then travelled from school to school with his DJ handcart, gaining further musical experience, earning his first fees and laying an important foundation stone for his later DJ career during this time. After school and the army, Duske bridged the time until his studies with a postman's job - and was of course out in clubs in the evenings, spinning cassettes and records. In addition to successfully completing his degree in mechanical engineering, Duske also became increasingly successful as a DJ and therefore began a further degree in media technology, which he also successfully completed. During his studies, he gained experience for his book "Gut aufgelegt". Today, DJ Dirk Duske plays his records in well-known clubs (e.g. "Club FX") in Chemnitz and in large discotheques throughout Saxony and Thuringia. Duske also teaches at the Chemnitz Municipal Music School, where he passes on his extensive knowledge and practical experience to young up-and-coming DJs.

Visitors to the Musikcafé can therefore expect another exciting afternoon - as usual with coffee and cake. The Musikcafé organisers are looking forward to welcoming many interested guests. Admission costs 5 euros per person (including coffee and cake). Guests who are dependent on a wheelchair should use the signposted side entrance.
