Cycle tour to flowering diversity
Explore the city's flowering areas with a flower scout on 14 July
On Wednesday 14 July at 5 p.m., the Environmental Centre invites interested parties to explore several beautiful, colourful flowering areas in the city on a leisurely cycle tour of around six kilometres.
A flowering scout will explain how they were created, how they have developed and how best to continue with them.
Participation is free of charge.
The meeting point and first stop is 5 p.m. in the Saatgutgarten, Augustusburger Straße, corner of Tschaikowskistraße. If you are less mobile, you are also welcome to join us at just one flowering area, e.g. around 5.45 pm at Annenplatz.
At the end of the tour at around 7 pm, everyone is invited to join us for a picnic. Please bring your own food and a blanket. Please do not forget your medical face mask and suitable, weatherproof clothing.
Background information
In the future project "Chemnitz blossoms!", coordinated by the Environmental Centre, assistance for the sustainable development of insect-friendly flowering areas using native seeds is being developed and published.
The target groups are voluntary initiatives, schools, municipal institutions and housing associations and co-operatives.
The prize money from the "Naturstadt - Kommunen schaffen Vielfalt" competition will be used, among other things, to finance a flowering scout who will collect and analyse previous experiences with flowering areas, network stakeholders, support some flowering area projects with new planting or maintenance and provide assistance in the form of workshops and instructions.
