Culture-Nature-Literature - We write Chemnitz
Museum of Natural History: Writing workshop on 25 and 26 June, from 10 a.m. each day
On Saturday and Sunday, 25 and 26 June, from 10 a.m., the Museum of Natural History invites children and young people aged between 10 and 15 to the writing workshop "Culture-Nature-Literature - We write Chemnitz" to discover the Museum of Natural History Chemnitz in a very special way and write their own stories.
Participation is free of charge. Pre-registration by e-mail: schreibwerkstatt(at)ulrikelynn.com is required.
After a tour accompanied by a museum educator, participants will engage with the exhibited artefacts. With the support of two instructors and authors, the selected exhibits are brought to life through literature: Would anyone like a prehistoric horse as a pet? Or dive into a fossilised raindrop? Or be present during a volcanic eruption? The children and young people then "weave" their own stories around their respective objects. The participants are introduced to the topic of writing in a playful way and equipped with the necessary techniques. There are no limits to their imagination.
The results will not only be presented to the interested public in a reading on Sunday afternoon, they will also be included in the museum's digital guide.
The writing workshop is a micro-project funded by the City of Chemnitz as part of the Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025, which is being realised in cooperation with the Museum für Naturkunde Chemnitz. Prerequisites for participation in the event are both photo permission from the participants and release of the texts for publication (the rights remain with the authors).
