Culture Committee decides to support measures from the Socio-Cultural Youth Fund
Projects in Chemnitz are being funded with around 47,000 euros
At its meeting yesterday, the Culture Committee approved the funding of projects from the Socio-Cultural Youth Fund for 2017. The focus of the funded projects is in the socio-cultural area, i.e. young people should not only accept the offers, but it is particularly important that they can also actively participate in the development, implementation and follow-up of the projects.
An expert working group, which includes representatives of the independent youth and socio-cultural organisations as well as experts from the cultural advisory board, will discuss the allocation of the funding of around 47,000 euros.
Yesterday, Thursday, a majority of the Culture Committee voted in favour of the working group's proposals. This means that a total of 25 projects can be realised and implemented in 2017 through the socio-cultural youth fund.
In addition to the BMX contest in Konkordiapark, the "Poet|bewegt" literature competition will also be subsidised. Other projects include the "Sonnenberg rollt" soapbox race, the labyrinth of lights organised by the Sächsische Mozart-Gesellschaft, the "Fuego a la isla Festival" organised by Pyrocatharsis e. V., which has been established for several years. on the Schloßteichinsel and "Nia Domo - Youthculture and Ecology", a project to design a permaculture garden with young people from different countries, organised by the Alternative Youth Centre Chemnitz e. V.
Smaller district festivals with socio-cultural aspects, such as those in Wittgensdorf or Borna-Heinersdorf, will also enrich the cultural offerings outside the centre of Chemnitz.
In view of Chemnitz's bid to become the Capital of Culture 2025, the project of the Netzwerk für Kultur- und Jugendarbeit e. V. (Network for Cultural and Youth Work) will also receive a grant. The umbrella organisation for socio- and youth work in Chemnitz wants to initiate a participation process for the Capital of Culture application by and for young people.
A remaining amount of 2,500 euros is still available in the funding pot. Applications can still be submitted spontaneously.
