Cultural summer at Brühl: Invitations to the weekend - with slackwerk workshop, music, lecture and TU writing workshop
Since the Kultursommer-am-Brühl premiere on 20 July, the Brühl-Areal has been enlivened every weekend with special cultural events: a colourful programme is also on offer for Saturday (24.8.) and Sunday (25.8.) - and the long weekend starts today, Friday (23.8.). Drop by, join in, enjoy! According to Brühl manager Dr. Urs Luczak, it's worth watching the street artists at work, for example, who are currently giving the Brühl Boulevard a colourful, imaginative and attractive design.
Here's a look at the programme - tips for the long summer weekend from this afternoon until Sunday:
Friday, 23 August to Sunday, 25 August, 4pm to 8pm each day:Slackwerk workshop & show - Like slackliners conquering city centres elsewhere, this group of young acrobatics enthusiasts from Chemnitz are currently conquering the Brühl with this new trend sport, which involves balancing on a webbing strap. Spectators can watch the acrobats at the weekend or try balancing themselves.
Saturday, 24. August, 2 pm:Puzzle tour - The Chemnitz Brühl through the ages - On this tour, anyone interested can follow the historical development of the Brühl with tour guides Grit Linke and Udo Mayer. once a Kuhanger, later a typical working-class neighbourhood, in GDR times a shopping paradise for Karl-Marx-Stadt residents, then a neighbourhood with many vacancies and in the future an attractive residential area for young and old. A quiz with small prizes awaits at the end. Participation is free of charge. The meeting point is the Brühl office (Brühl, corner of Untere Aktienstraße 12).
Saturday, 24 August, 3 pm: Reading Reni Dammich: "Claire - Eine Frau geht ihren Weg" - Reni Dammich reads "Claire - Eine Frau geht ihren Weg" on the Brühlterrassen (Boulevard). The novel "Claire" was written on the basis of Arabic research material which, due to its gloomy, sometimes brutal content, could not be used for my otherwise cheerful and upbeat books in the style of modern fairy tales. As a love story, it draws a wide arc from the exploitation of a woman's plight, omnipresent double standards, smuggling, the arms trade and revenge, to the subject of female circumcision.
Saturday, 24 August, 4 p.m.: Lecture - The Chemnitz Brühl through the ages - Following the puzzle tour, tour guide Udo Mayer will give a talk in the Brühl office about the Brühl through the ages with pictures. The topic is the historical development of the area up to today's inner-city neighbourhood, which is currently undergoing urban development. The event will take place in the Brühlbüro (Brühl, corner of Untere Aktienstraße 12).
Saturday, 24 August, from 4 pm: Music on the Brühlterrassen and in the Barlament - The weekend programme on the Brühl would not be complete without hip sounds: on Saturday, 4 to 6 pm, with "I goilt out", the finest pop rock from L.O., followed by punk from 6pm with "Die Arbeitslosen Bauarbeiter" and finally the Chemnitz band "Solche" from 8pm to 10pm, all on the Brühl terraces. From 10 pm, Tolchock (D'n'B) and from midnight "DubDwarf" (Dubstep/Dub) can be heard in the Barlament (Brühl 51).
Sunday, 25 August, 3 p.m.: Writing workshop at Chemnitz University of Technology - Writing is easy, you just have to leave out the wrong words, said Mark Twain. Anyone who has ever tried their hand at writing a poem or a story - and stared at the page until white spots danced in front of their eyes - knows that this saying is to be taken sarcastically. Since 2012, the Institute of German Studies and Communication of the Faculty of Arts at Chemnitz University of Technology has therefore been offering the Writing Workshop. Once a week, amateur authors, poets and wordplayers meet here to be creative on various tasks relating to a semester topic. The theme for the 2013 summer semester is childhood. The variety of texts is as great as the theme - children's heroes, children's deeds, children's senses, children's thoughts and children's dreams are brought (back) to life. Anyone who is curious and interested is invited to spend an hour listening to memories and ideas of childhood - and perhaps even hear some of the language of childhood in the process.
