Cultural exchange with Chinese twin city Taiyuan

Photo opportunities: 29 August, 9 a.m. at the town hall and 4.30 p.m. at the TIETZ

On Thursday 29 August at 9 a.m., Mayor Ralph Burghart will receive a four-person delegation from the Chinese twin city of Taiyuan in the Green Salon of Chemnitz City Hall. The delegation is visiting Chemnitz from 28 to 30 August to mark the 20th anniversary of the twinning of the two cities.

Mr An Junyue, Deputy Director of the Taiyuan City Government's Culture and Tourism Office, Ms Wei Tao, Deputy Director of the Taiyuan City Government's Foreign Relations Office, Mr Zhao Jinming, Deputy Director of the Taiyuan City Library, and Ms Wang Zhem, Head of Department of the Taiyuan City Government's Foreign Relations Office, will meet at around 16:30 in the TIETZ, on the Taiyuan City Hall.30 p.m. at the TIETZ, on the floor leading to the entrance of the City Library, with Mr Ference Csák, Head of the Cultural Department, and Ms Elke Beer, Head of the City Library.

Representatives of the media are cordially invited to these meetings.

The aim of the visit is to engage in dialogue on the subject of culture and to discuss the possibilities of a mutual cultural exchange.

Taiyuan is the capital of Shanxi Province in north-east China. The city has around 4.2 million inhabitants and a history of more than 2500 years.

Guests from Taiyuan recently visited Chemnitz as part of the 875th anniversary celebrations. They took part in the big choir singing event "Chemnitz sings".
