In his novel "Den Hund überleben" (Surviving the Dog), published in 2021, Stefan Hornbach writes about a young man's cancer and tells a powerful story about friendship and family, about being young and illness. He presents a captivating debut that tells of existential matters in a natural and moving way that is rarely seen.
Stefan Hornbach, born in 1986 in Speyer, studied theatre studies, psychology and modern German literature in Munich, acting at the Akademie für Darstellende Kunst Baden-Württemberg in Ludwigsburg and literary writing at the Deutsches Literaturinstitut Leipzig. His debut novel was honoured with the literature prize of the Jürgen Ponto Foundation.
The event marks the start of the City of Chemnitz's second literary scholarship.
After Arna Aley intensively explored Chemnitz in her literary work from October 2022 to March 2023, Stefan Hornbach will now receive the city's residency scholarship for the period from April to September 2024.
