Cultural ambassadors wanted!
Applications for participation in the programme council of the Capital of Culture project are possible until 12 April 2017
The City of Chemnitz is looking for five Chemnitz residents of all generations as cultural ambassadors for the Programme Council and the preparation of the application for the title "European Capital of Culture 2025".
The Programme Council carries out the creative work for the application. It develops the concept for the European Capital of Culture and collects ideas and proposals. It is advised on the programme work by international experts.
The task of the cultural ambassadors in the Programme Council will be to work on the content of the application. They will discuss ideas from the Programme Council in their networks and, conversely, contribute ideas from urban society to the Programme Council.
The concept with which Chemnitz applies for the title should be authentic, fit the city and have a lasting impact. With the concept, Chemnitz will show what is special about the city as part of Europe. Culture is a broad term that encompasses not only artistic disciplines, but also all areas of society, such as sport, social affairs, allotment gardening and science.
What cultural ambassadors achieve:
Through the involvement of the Cultural Ambassadors, the citizens of the city can contribute to the programme and influence the application process.
Cultural ambassadors:
- love their city and are well connected,
- are creative and like to contribute their ideas to the city's development,
- work on a voluntary basis and receive compensation for their expenses in accordance with the City of Chemnitz statutes on the compensation of citizens working on a voluntary basis.
Period of work in the programme council:
April 2017 until probably December 2020
What else is important:
Chemnitz residents who are not employed by the City of Chemnitz and are not members of Chemnitz City Council are eligible to apply.
Selection procedure:
Applications should be sent informally with a letter of motivation. The letter of motivation should state what characterises the applicant as a cultural ambassador and what his/her interest in the "Chemnitz - European Capital of Culture 2025" project is.
Applications should be sent by 12 April 2017 to the Capital of Culture Secretariat in the City of Chemnitz's Cultural Department, Moritzstraße 20, 09111 Chemnitz or by email to kulturbetrieb(at)stadt-chemnitz.de.
