Cow eats rainforest! Meat consumption and environmental damage
Workshop on the use of resources: 1 November, 6.45 p.m.
On Thursday, 1 November at 6.45 pm, the adult education centre is offering a workshop in the TIETZ, course room 4.07, which deals with the use and consumption of natural resources. Participation is free of charge. Please register at www.vhs-chemnitz.de.
High CO2 emissions, meat products as industrial mass products, animal feed production for Europe on farmland in Latin America, monocultures on original rainforest areas, harmful use of pesticides and genetic manipulation - the social and ecological consequences of global meat production are complex. This workshop attempts to shed light on some of them and provide insights into the global connections between meat consumption, industrial agriculture and climate change. Using the example of soya cultivation in Latin America, terms, phenomena and backgrounds will be explained. Possible courses of action will be discussed together.
