Countdown to the reopening
The first courses at the adult education centre start on 2 June
On Tuesday, 2 June, the Chemnitz Adult Education Centre will start running courses again. "First of all, we will continue with the integration and vocational language courses," says Grit Bochmann, Director of the Adult Education Centre.
From 15 June, political, civic and ecological education, health courses and creative activities will also take place again.
For example, those interested can learn more about growing sweet fruit in the pot garden and on the balcony in a course on 24 June. The following day, the Chemnitz gardening and exchange platform "Direkt vom Beet" will introduce itself in an evening lecture. Those who are drawn to nature can relax with "forest bathing" in the Rabenstein forest.
VHS Chemnitz also has two "Turn old into new" holiday courses in its programme for the first two weeks of the summer holidays. The two upcycling programmes are aimed at creative children and young people from the age of seven and between the ages of ten and 18. Worn T-shirts or jeans are turned into great new items of clothing, bags and the like. There are no limits to the ideas.
"We are also planning to continue the courses that started in March before the coronavirus-related lockdown. We are currently checking which courses can start again," explains Grit Bochmann. The adult education centre will be contacting all course instructors and participants over the next two weeks to discuss the modalities of a possible course continuation.
The information desk at the adult education centre will also reopen on 2 June.
On Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 am to 1 pm and from 3 pm to 6 pm, courses and events can once again be booked in person at the VHS Chemnitz.
The adult education centre staff are looking forward to welcoming visitors. They take registrations and answer questions about the events and courses.
A guidance system in front of the information desk ensures sufficient distance and safe course counselling.
