Corona pandemic: City of Chemnitz issues two general decrees

The City of Chemnitz today published two general decrees in connection with the coronavirus pandemic.

1. The consumption of alcohol is prohibited on public thoroughfares in the following areas of the city centre (clockwise from the northern boundary): Brückenstraße from Theaterstraße, Brückenstraße/Straße der Nationen intersection, Bahnhofstraße, Theaterstraße from Falkeplatz to Brückenstraße. According to § 2d of the Saxon Corona Protection Ordinance of 26 January 2021, the consumption of alcohol in public traffic areas in city centres and, if applicable, in other public places in the open air where people are in confined spaces or not only temporarily. This ban is intended to reduce contact and contain the spread of infection. It is to be feared that without the ban, people would meet in public spaces to consume alcohol and form groups. This order comes into force tomorrow and defines the affected city centre area.

2. the sale of take-away food and drink from non-stationary sales stands (snack stands, etc.) remains prohibited throughout the city. This includes in particular snack carts, goulash canons, trailers and huts. This decree extends the decree of the same name, which expires on 31 January 2021. This measure also serves to contain the spread of infection.
